TRAINING
Through J.C. Owens Training Unit we offer tailored training and retraining programs for corporate organizations and government agencies in Africa in the areas of helping to combat fraud and corruption. Transparency International defines corruption index as "...the abuses of public office for private gain and measures the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among the country's public officials and politicians."
At the same time, the United Nations in their Human Development Index has consistently listed the "least livable" countries of the world and sadly Africa has always constituted most of the last 20 countries.
Conversely, no African country has been listed among the 20 "most livable" countries. The United Nations defines the index as "a comparative measure of the expectancy, literacy, education and standard of living for countries worldwide. It also measures the impact of economic policies on quality of life."
There is therefore the need for African governments to take steps to combat fraud and corruption by training and retraining their internal auditors to be able to investigate, detect and prevent the two cankerworms and thus reduce wastages. Therefore, the availability of more money in government coffers would lead to lower incidence of poverty, increased real incomes, and improved life expectancy for their people. With time, an African country may join in the list of the first 20 "most livable" countries of the world. Which African country would become the first?
